RAMESH IYER
Speaking to Ramesh Iyer, you can't help but be swept along in his unshakeable belief in the face of daunting odds, like shooting his first AICP Award winning spot for Oxygene Perfume... underwater. Or a trip to Paris to shoot a spot for Kleenex but not speaking any French. The only kid of Indian descent in a Twin Peaks-esque town In Washington State, he spent his formative years making experimental shorts with Super 8 camera bought at a garage sale. Later, he briefly enrolled at the American Film Institute, but left after realizing that the days of Terence Malick and David Lynch were long gone. Taking a few classes at Art Center College of Design in Pasadena convinced Ramesh to try his hand at commercials. Apart from Oxygene and Kleenex, his spot for Aspercreme was featured at the 2004 Cannes Young Guns Awards. He has also shot spots for Nascar, SEAT, Snickers and DVS Skate Shoes. In 2005, he was profiled by the British SHOTS magazine as a top talent to watch.
